Snuff Box (possibly Germany)
This is a snuff box. It was made by J. M. Heinrici. It is dated ca. 1745–1755 and we acquired it in 1995. Its medium is inlaid gold and mother-of-pearl, chased gilt-metal, enamel. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
This box is said to have been a gift to the Count de Leopold de Kolowrat from Maria Theresa, Archduchess of Austria. Inlaid mother-of-pearl adds level of shimmering iridescence to the box.
