Sampler (England)
This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Mary Milner. It is dated 1694 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk and linen embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in cross, long armed cross, montenegrin cross satin, back, double running, herringbone, fern, and detached looping stitches on plain weave foundation. two bands of withdrawn element work with needle-made fillings; looping, looping with a twist. It is a part of the Textiles department.
