Phil Patton

Phil Patton was an influential design journalist, author, curator, and teacher. Raised in Durham, North Carolina, Patton graduated with a degree in English and History from Harvard University where he was the arts editor of the student newspaper The Crimson. He went on to graduate study in comparative literature at Columbia University. Patton’s first jobs included fact-checking at Esquire magazine and editing Delta’s in-flight magazine. His primary areas of interest and expertise were car design, industrial design, and technology.
