Mirror And Console
This is a Mirror and Console.
This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Stephen E. Kelly//Kelly Gallery, New York as part of The Jazz Age: American Style in the 1920s.
The French designer Edgar Brandt spurred a revival of interest in interior furnishings made of iron in the 1920s. Brandt's romantic swags and foliate decoration relate to Louis Süe's giltwood mirror of 1923 at the other end of the gallery, but in petite proportions better suited to apartment living.
