Magazine Page, The Modern Priscilla, vol. 35, no. 9; A Lesson in Reticella Lace, November 1921

This is a Magazine page. It was published by The Priscilla Publishing Company. It is dated November 1921. Its medium is offset lithography on paper. It is a part of the Smithsonian Libraries department.

Modern Priscilla began as a 16-page publication devoted to fancy work, dress patterns, china painting, and needlework in general, at 50cents a year. It eventually enlarged in scope to cover many other aspects of women's home life. Cooking, health and beauty tips, fashion, short stories, and home decorating became popular features, but patterns for needlework of all kinds were constant highlights. The Modern Priscilla documents the home economics movement of the late 19th and early 20th century, which encouraged women to pursue homemaking as a profession vital to humanity’s continued progress. A Lesson in Reticella Lace not only speaks to homemaking but, with the lovely intricacies of the lace, connects the art of needlework with beautifying the home and creating fashionable attire for the family.

It is credited Collection of Smithsonian Institution Libraries.
