Necklace, 2015

This is a Necklace. It was designed by Daniel Kruger. It is dated 2015 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is clear and mirrored arcylic glass, pressed and layered flower petals and leaves, insects, silver, pigment. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

In this necklace Kruger captures the chaotic patterns of flowers and insects behind glass in the manner of traditional lockets or portrait cameos while alluding to the scientific views of organisms under a microscope.

This object was donated by Susan Lewin. It is credited The Susan Grant Lewin Collection, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
