Sketch For "Adjustable Lens Sun Glasses Or Sun Shade" (USA)
This is a Sketch for "Adjustable Lens Sun Glasses or Sun Shade". It was made by Earl Silas Tupper. It is dated June 16, 1937. Its medium is ink on paper.
The earliest designs of Tupperware inventor Earl S. Tupper reflect the flexibility of his ingenuity. Tupper’s ideas, including for the "adjustable lens sun glasses or sun shade," are clearly laid out in an invention notebook, capturing not his process but also identifying the specific parameters for the use and manufacture of his idea. "Lenses may be set into groove of round plastic rod, or may attach rigidly or loosely in some other manner. The rod with lenses attached then snaps into raised groove over nose bridge on frame," he wrote. "This same lens hook up might be attached to a wide variety of frames – including a very simple one to fit over and use in conjunction with regular eye and adjusting glasses."
It is credited Earl S. Tupper Papers, Archives Center, National Museum of American History, 1992.3213.
