Bacco Cocktail Cabinet

This is a Cocktail cabinet. It was manufactured by Artemide S.p.A.. It is dated 1967–1969 and we acquired it in 2002. Its medium is injection-molded abs plastic. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Conceived as a self-contained plastic cube with geometrically arranged slots for bottles, ice, and a resting surface for drinking glasses, the Bacco drinks cabinet was a clever concept when it was introduced in 1967. Injection-molded plastic construction allowed for an appealing, seamless form consistent with other innovative plastic seating and storage furniture of the late 1960s.
Bacco’s designer, Sergio Mazza studied architecture in Lausanne before opening his own design studio in Milan in 1956. In addition to his furniture designs, Mazza has designed lighting for Artimede, and has served as editor-in-chief of Ottagono, the design and architecture magazine.
