Cup and Saucer Cup And Saucer

This is a cup and saucer. It was designed by Christian Johannes van der Hoef and manufactured by Zuid Holland Factory, Gouda. It is dated ca. 1904 and we acquired it in 1994. Its medium is earthenware. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

It is credited Museum purchase from Decorative Arts Association Acquisition Fund.

Its dimensions are

It has the following markings

On underside of cup: [1] an image of a building with two dots on either side, and "GOUDA" written above the portal, all of which is encircled by “PLATEEL ∙ BAKKERIJ ∙ ZUID ∙ HOLLAND”, stamped in black (factory mark). [2] "CH", painted in yellow (painter's mark). On underside of saucer: [1] an image of a building with two dots on either side, and "GOUDA" written above the portal, all of which is encircled by “PLATEEL ∙ BAKKERIJ ∙ ZUID ∙ HOLLAND”, stamped in black (factory mark). [2] "4110", stamped
