Darning Sampler
This is a Darning sampler. It is dated early 19th century and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk and linen embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in running, satin, buttonhole and eyelet stitches with overcasting over withdrawn element work on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.
