Sampler (England), 1601–50

This is a Sampler. It is dated 1601–50 and we acquired it in 1941. Its medium is silk, linen and metal-wrapped silk embroidery, linen foundation and its technique is tent, back, rococo, roumanian, half-cross, long-armed cross, eyelet, satin, stem, chain, running, plaited braid and looping stitches on plain weave.
