Green Glass Matchsafe

This is a matchsafe. It is dated 1896–97 and we acquired it in 1980. Its medium is glass, silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Carol B. Brener and Stephen W. Brener. It is credited Gift of Stephen W. Brener and Carol B. Brener.

It has the following markings

Illegible maker's mark, lion passant, date letter gothic "W", anchor, all stamped on outside of silver collar. STERLING stamped on reverse collar side. Lion passant and date letter "W" also stamped on underside of lid.
