Hanging (Iran)

This is a Hanging. It is dated 19th century and we acquired it in 1977. Its medium is wool, silk, cotton and its technique is pieces of fulled plain weave sewn together using stem stitches to form foundation; stem stitches attach a plied cord on the front; chain stitch for design done with a hook; borders embroidered as one continuous strip and later assembled. It is a part of the Textiles department.
