Bedcover (Portugal)

This is a Bedcover. It is dated late 19th century and we acquired it in 1974. Its medium is cotton, wool and its technique is printed by engraved roller on plain weave; woven cotton tape with cotton weft-loop fringe (1.5cm. sections of red wool at 5cm. intervals) attached to 4 sides. note crossed and recrossed warps. It is a part of the Textiles department.

Its dimensions are

H x W (including fringe): 191 x 150 cm (6 ft. 3 3/16 in. x 59 1/16 in.) Repeat H x W: 36.5 x 26 cm (14 3/8 x 10 1/4 in.)
