Chintz Fragment (India)

This is a Chintz fragment. It is dated 18th century and we acquired it in 1973. Its medium is cotton and its technique is mordants for black, 2 reds and 2 purples applied by brush and pen; madder dyed; blue applied over resist by immersion; yellow applied by brush; chintz on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
