Vase (USA), ca. 1900

This is a Vase. It was produced by Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company and the design director was Louis Comfort Tiffany. It is dated ca. 1900 and we acquired it in 1966. Its medium is mold-blown favrile glass. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This vase’s pinched shape and plant-like ribs, made more dramatic by its iridescent surface, are representative of the inventiveness of Tiffany’s early work in glass. The gourd shape references a form typical in ancient glass, which Tiffany collected and regularly used for design inspiration in various media.

This object was bequest of Joseph L. Morris. It is credited Bequest of Joseph L. Morris.
