Liqueur Bottle Cooler (Seau Oval à Liqueur) Bottle Cooler

This is a bottle cooler. It was manufactured by Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory and painted by Claude Couturier. It is dated 1770 and we acquired it in 1962. Its medium is soft paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Its dimensions are

H x W x D: 11 × 31 × 13.6 cm (4 5/16 × 12 3/16 × 5 3/8 in.)

It has the following markings

Underside: [1] interlaced LLs flanked by "R" and "E", painted in blue overglaze (probably date letter and unidentified painter's mark) [2] "FROM / The Antique Porcelain Co. Inc. / 48 East 57th Street / New York 22, N.Y / Guaranteed Genuine", printed in red on rectangular label adhered to underside
