Button (USA)

This is a Button. It is dated ca. 1789 and we acquired it in 1959. Its medium is brass. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Initials representing the original thirteen colonies encircle a "GW" for George Washington and the slogan, "Long Live the President," in the center of this rare button ("The Cooper-Hewitt Collections: A Design Resource," March 26, 1991 - August 30, 1992).

This object was bequest of Julia Hutchins Wolcott. It is credited Bequest of Julia Hutchins Wolcott.
