This is a Print. We acquired it in 1952. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
In Britain, Oxford and Cambridge Universities, along with the Stationer’s Guild, monopolized the rights to issue almanacs up until the eighteenth century, when other publishers were allowed to print and sell them. The Oxford Almanac originated in 1634, and publication continues to the present day. They comprise a calendar annotated with important dates in the academic year, tables of monarchs since the Norman Conquest, officers of the University, and views of the Oxford buildings and grounds, all arranged in impressive tableaux.
