Tea Scoop with Shell Form Terminal Scoop
This is a scoop. It is dated 1844 and we acquired it in 1931. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
text from "The Design of Table Tools..." in Feeding Desire exhibition catalogue:
"The oval-shaped bowl, not called an "oval soup spoon", was designed first with an elliptical shape and later with an egg shape, made with a somewhat rounded and slightly solid food, such as vegetable or beef soup (fig. 8)."
