This is a Book. It was designed by Francis Amasa Walker.
This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Smithsonian Libraries and Archives as part of Saturated: The Allure and Science of Color.
This detailed analysis of the 1870 national census, with data presented in the form of infographics, was the first of its kind when it was produced in 1874. Color was essential to the communication and visualization of the census’s extensive data.
