Hindustani appears to be the only textile design created for Associated American Artists by Piero Dorazio, the Italian-born artist who helped to found the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia. In this design, which is uncharacteristically complex in comparison to the other Signature Fabrics, rows of horseback riders and antlered animals are printed in brown, yellow-green and grey-blue on white.
This design in this colorway is represented in the museum’s collection (1994-38-13).
