The Dunand doors are sophisticated, elegant, and massive. “Moten Swing” in many ways defines the emerging sounds coming out of Kansas City, but was recorded in Camden, New Jersey. The recording features Count Basie and Walter Page. Much like a door swinging open and shut, Moten Swing is also the beginnings of a looser rhythmic feel in jazz.
