Mark van S. is a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, and designer and is the creative director at MVS Studio. In his early career he lived in Seattle and New York and now lives an works in Los Angeles. He describes his work as arts adjacent and it includes everything from poster design to large scale video installations for MoMA, The Getty, The Whitney and the Corcoran. He is the inventor of the modern day photo booth and holds two patents.
Mark van S. is the Creative Director of MVS Studio which is a multidisciplinary studio that designs innovative, interactive installations that blur the lines between art, commerce and entertainment. Special event and site-specific photo, video, web, and text based marketing and branding solutions are his passion.
Mark van S. is credited with designing the first Digital PhotoBooth for events and he holds two patents for that work. The studio has done installations for the Grammys, Emmys, Oscars, and the Fourth of July party at The White House. The Digital PhotoBooth has been installed at The Getty, The Whitney, The Corcoran, and at MoMA. There are permanent installations of The Digital PhotoBooth at the New York Public Library and The Barclays Center.
Mark van S. has a background in photography and has done CD covers and publicity photos for Sarah McLachlan, Ani Difranco, Pearl Jam and Heart. His editorial work has appeared in Rolling Stone, Fast Company and Vanity Fair.
