Magis (latin for "more") is an Italian furniture manufacturer founded in 1976, that emphasizes design and technical innovation in its products. Magis was established by Eugenio Perazza who had worked in the export department of a household goods manufacturer. He had tried to convince the owner to invite Richard Sapper to design wire furniture for the contract market. When the manufacturer declined the offer, Perazza quit and started his own company, Magis. The company started out making basic household products: a folding side table, a stepladder, and an ironing board. The company does not operate its own factory, but employs local contractors to fabricate its designs. Magis has manufactured works ranging from furniture to household objects by notable European designers including Jasper Morrison, Konstantin Grcic, Marcel Wanders, and the Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa.
