Rancho Alegre of Taxco, Mexico, was established by Pedro Perez, a shop manager for William Spratling, an American academic and artist who in the1920s had moved to Mexico. During the 1960s, the shop became a major manufacturer and retailer of Mexican silver jewelry, employing prominent designers and silversmiths. The shop closed in 1985.
