Jami Porter Lara
Jami Porter Lara (b. 1969) is a conceptual artist working with a broad range of materials and techniques such as ceramics, printmaking, sewing and embroidery. Born in Spokane, Washington, in 1980, she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she continues to reside. Before becoming and artist, Porter Lara worked as a software engineer until 2009, when she decided to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of New Mexico, which she received in 2013. In 2011 she traveled to the village of Mata Ortiz in Mexico where she studied with master potters Graciela and Hector Gallegos.
