Bertel Gardberg
Silversmith Bertel Gardberg established his own workshop and studio in Helsinki in 1949. He was a noted designer of cutlery for manufacturers Hackman and Fiskars as well as jewelry for Georg Jensen. He also worked for Galerie Lafayette in Paris, and the Kilkenny Design Workshops in Ireland. In addition to silver objects, Gardberg produced small home accessories in wood, stone, and ceramic. Throughout his career he advocated for the importance of the handmade and truth to materials.
