Immigrated to U.S. in 1948. Received a BFA in 1951, and a MFA, in 1952 from Alfred Universit y, New York.. After graduating he moved to New York City. He taught ceramicics at the Brooklyn Museum, and set up a studio in Manhattan. He also taught at Douglas Collage and Rutgers University. His work began to be recognized in the mid '60s, partly due to his collaboration with Roy Lichtenstein. He retired in New Jersey where he died Oct. 17, 2003.
