Michiel Schuurman (Dutch, b. 1974) studied graphic design and typography for two years at the Koninklijke Academie voor de Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague, and graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie Amsterdam in 2002 with a degree in graphic design. Schuurman specializes in poster design and typography, and designs his own typefaces. While he enjoys the discipline of working in black and white, Schuurman has been a designer for Vlisco, a company specializing in brilliantly colored and patterned textiles for the West African market, since 2012. Schuurman has also designed exhibition spaces, window displays, and architectural signage.
