Interior designer, furniture, jewelry, glass, textile designer, ceramicist. From 1946-8 she designed furniture for Mobilia, and from 1948-52 she was a lighting designer for Pavo Tynell's firm,Taito. In the early 1950s, Hopea started to design glass, working for the Nuutajärvi Nostjö glassworks. She was later assistant to the firm's artistic director, Kaj Franck. in 1960, Hopea married American metalsmith, educator and writer, Oppi Untracht, and moved to the US with him in that year. They returned to Finland in 1967. There, she worked in silver jewelry and enamel. She became artistic director at the family jewelry firm, Ossian Hopea, in Porvoo, Finland.
