A slightly yellowing page of a book detailing color illustrations of various flowers with their names in tiny print to identify them. The illustrations are all housed within a rectangle at the center of the page; there is an inch-wide border of blank page surrounding the illustrations. The flowers are of various sizes and are arranged in four rows. Beginning on the left side in the first row: “ONION” - a small six-petaled white flower, “DAFFODIL” - a large six-petaled yellow flower with an orange trumpeting center, “CLOSOCOMER CLEMATIDEA” - a small many-petaled white flower, “HONEYSUCKLE” - a white and pink flower with ten long, skinny petals, “NARCISSUS” - a stout six-petaled yellow flower, “LEYCESTERIA FORMOSA” - a small six-petaled red flower with a separate illustration of the flower in white at left. Beginning on the left side of the second row: “SPEEDWELL” - a small four-petaled dark blue flower, “HAREBELL” - a small five-petaled medium blue flower, “WHITE LILY” - a very large six-petaled white flower, “IRIS” - a very large medium blue flower with three petals hanging downwards and three upright petals, “LADIES SMOCK” - a small four-petaled pink flower, “MOUSE-EAR” - a small dark blue flower with five divoted petals. Third row: “PERIWINCKLE” - a large flat trumpeting five-petaled dark blue flower,, “DOG ROSE” a large pink flower with five veined divoted petals, “CONVOVOLUS” a large round-like five-petaled white flower. Fourth row: “MALLOW” - a medium-sized pink flower with five divoted petals vertically striped with magenta, “CLARKIA” - a medium-sized pink flower with four petals shaped like crosses, “PRIMROSE” - a medium-sized stout yellow flower with five divoted petals and an orange center.

A folio depicting a vertical rectangular textile from a man's garment. The textile is dark green with bands of golden yellow pattern of varying thickness. In the upper section is a repeating horizontal diamond motif, which is bordered on the right hand side and on its lower section with a thin band of dense floral pattern with tassels. Inside the upper section in the lower right corner is a large teardrop shape which is decorated with flowers. In the mid to lower section is a broad dense floral pattern with a repeating bunch of chrysanthemum like flowers set against smaller flowers. The lower section has three horizontal stripes, with the middle stripe a lighter gold color than the other two. Underneath the textile capitalized black text reads [MAN'S GARMENT / BENARES], and gives measurement details.

A folio depicting a vertical rectangular textile from a man's garment. The textile is golden yellow with varying bands of pattern in different sections. Along the right hand side and in the lower section is a three-tiered floral border, consisting of blue, pink and white flowers intertwined with green leaves and black vines. In the mid sections there is a repeating motif of large bluebell type flowers in white, blue, deep pink and pale pink, each with long green leaves, which is mirrored by a smaller version of the same pattern above. In the upper section there is a repeating diamond pattern in burgundy and gold, with a white geometric border beneath, another burgundy border with gold flames beneath that, and a white floral border beneath that. Underneath the textile black text in capital letters reads [MAN'S GARMENT / BOORHANPORE], and gives measurement details.

In the center is a section featuring small, tear-drop shaped patterns repeating throughout. The bottom section features one border and a center area featuring two very large tear-drop shapes.

A double-page spread of a booklet with a band of text along the top, below which are black and white industrial photographs of a diorama of a futuristic city viewed from an expansive, aerial perspective. The photographs appear grey-scale with sepia undertones. The fictional landscape in the photograph on the left is centered on a park with a wide, meandering river running through it, viewed diagonally, growing smaller from the bottom left corner upwards. Above the park, in the far distance, the topography of a city is seen in a cluster of skyscrapers and other buildings. Thoroughfares, bridges, and street lanes are visible but not rendered in fine detail. The right photograph appears to be the cityscape found in the background of the left photograph, but rendered in more detail. It illustrates a number of skyscrapers interspersed with low-rise built structures, surrounding a geometric, rectangular park, perhaps Central Park. On either side of the skyscrapers the land appears largely flat, but built on, perhaps with residential housing, interspersed with a few areas of foliage and idle land. The text above the left photograph states [“Through an ingenious system of traffic flow and direction from the various converging roadways, and by means of the ascending and descending ramps, a four-tier approach to the great bridge is formed. There is no interference or cutting in of traffic lanes. Cars may be driven on and off the bridge without risk of collision and with speeds maintained. / “And directly ahead we again see the river city with its four-tier bridge approach. But now we near the great metropolis of 1960. We will bank high over the city for a spectacular view of its many wonders. / “In 1940 this American city actually existed. Its population then was approximately a million per-sons. Today--in 1960--it is much larger, divided]. It continues on the right page [into three units, residential, commercial and industrial. Nine miles out from the city is a vast airport. /'Here is an American city replanned around a highly developed modern traffic system and, even though this is 1960, the system as yet is not complete. Whenever possible the rights of way of these express city thoroughfares have been so routed as to displace outmoded business sections and undesirable slum areas. / “The city of 1960 has abundant sunshine, fresh air, fine green parkways, recreational and civic centers -- all the result of thoughtful planning and design. There are approximately 38,000,000 motorcars in this America of 1960 -- almost a third more than in]. The text is surrounded by a red lined border above and below it on both pages.

Detailed botanical illustration of Odontoglossum grande spread across two pages horizontally. The orchids are set against a tan colored background. The perspective of the illustration is from a top view, exposing the inside of each bloomed orchid. The petals are a blotched pattern of mahogany and white. Some petals are mostly mahogany with a golden-yellow tip. A few wilting petals are a cool purple and white color. The inner pistils and stamen extend from the center of each orchid in bright yellow. Dark green stems and leaves emerge from where the page is binded at center. On the right side of the right page in a script font reads 'Odontoglossom grande.'

A print of a Tasconia Pinnatistipula, a species of flower, spread across two pages vertically. Two pale fuscia flowers are at center. One is a closed bulb and the other has bloomed showing the green and yellow pistil and stamen within the flower. Dark green pistils peak through the closed petals. A dark, hunter green stem travels along the right side of the pages with vines and the two flowers budding off of it. Below the closed flower is a green tomatoe hanging from the plant. On the bottom of the page in a script font reads 'Tasconia Pinnatistipula.'

This illustration has a framing rectangle of a realistic banana and its anatomical growth stages and parts numbered but unordered. A full illustration of a ripe, unpeeled banana has green on either ends and takes up most of the left side of the frame. To its right on the top of the frame, is a black and white and yellow illustration of one end of a banana with parts of a flower emerging from the top, and the written number 2 next to it. On the right of that is an illustration with a number 1, showing a misshapen banana with petals and flowers emerging from the top. Underneath that are two black and white illustrations, 3 and 4, of the flowers stylus and pistil (3) and the stylus open (4). At the bottom are illustrations number 5 and 7: 5 is small unripened bottom of banana, cut across the top, revealing a seed formation in the middle. On the right is 7: a color drawing of a ripened banana cut across the top in the same manner, showing a progressed seed formation in the center. To the left of the full banana illustration, is a black and white a black and white illustration numbered 8, showing roots and new growth. Outside of the rectangular frame, there is text at the top reads '54 bis,' and the text at the bottom reads 'BANANIER' in all caps, with a small signature on the bottom right of the framing rectangle.

The left page of a tall and narrow open book, showing a printed illustration of fifteen unique bird heads, arranged in five rows of three. The birds are a mix of types, including a speckled brown falcon with a large eye and a hooked black beak; a toucan with a black head, orange feathers around its eye, and a large, long serrated white and yellow beak; a yellow-orange bird with a goggle eye, long pointed beak, and a tall crest of black-and-white tipped feathers; a woodpecker with a red-and-black head, light green throat, and open, pointed beak; a white spoonbill with a long, golden yellow bill, wide and round at the end; a black-and-white avocet, a shorebird, with a slender, upward-curved black bill; a dark green merganser, a duck, with a round, pink eye and open, toothy pink beak. The birds are labelled with italic numbers pointing at various features: beaks, feathers, eyes. 'Pl. 1' is printed in italics in the top right corner; 'Pub: by Geo: Graves, June, 1817.' is printed in small italics along the bottom edge.

This is a book page of a four-quadrant rectangle. There are four feather samples attached, the text above reading 'ostrich feather dyeing.' In each quadrant there is a sample of a few feathers attached to each other. Each group has an assigned color name: the gray is called slate, the blue gendarme blue, white sample is felt drab, and brown is named garnet.
