Cooper Hewitt says...

Textile designer and weaver Jane Eastwood received her MA from the Royal College of Art. She began her career weaving textiles in London. She has been an international textile consultant since the 1980’s. Today she resides in her hometown of Huddersfield, England, in West Yorkshire. Eastwood produces both local hand-woven fabrics as well as fabric manufactured in facilities in Yorkshire which are available primarily to interior designers. She stamps her pieces “Made in Huddersfield.” Her primary interests are structured woven textiles and bold colors and combinations; she enjoys representing new and old technologies in her works. Her designs explore the quality of material through woven structure, drawing inspiration from abstract textures found in everyday life.

Eastwood has advised on curriculum development and taught in several colleges and universities, including the Royal College of Art, Chelsea College of Art and Design, and St. Martins School of Art and Design. As an academic scholar Eastwood’s research covers art and design processes as well as the application of new technologies to the timeless process of design.
