Ulf Moritz is a well-known textile and interior designer. Moritz graduated as a textile designer in 1960 from Krefelds Textilingenieurschule in Germany. His designs were influenced by the Bauhaus and design movements during the 1960's
After completing his degree, Moritz began working at the Ploeg weavery for several years. In 1970 Moritz opened his own design studio in Amsterdam. In the following year he became head of the department Man and Identity at the Design Academy Eindhoven, where he continued teaching until 2004. In 1986 he developed his first annual textile collection for the German company Sahco.
Moritz was selected as Designer of the Year 2003 by the German magazine Architektur und Wohnen and later was given the honorary titale of royal designer for Industry by the Royal Society of Arts in London. He has worked as a carpet designer for danskina and as the art director and designer for Vorwerk. His most recent collection was launched in 2008 with the Italian campany Viva. His fabrics and wallpapers have ben awarded and exhibited world wide.
