Lurelle Van Arsdale Guild

Lurelle Van Arsdale Guild studied painting at Syracuse University and moved to New York after graduating in 1920. He worked as an illustrator and writer on the subject of antiques before establishing Lurelle Guild Associates around 1928. His corporate clients included Alcoa, Revlon, Heywood-Wakefield, Electrolux, Pullman, and International Silver Company. He also started Dale Decorators, a door-to-door decorating business in Darien, Connecticut. Guild was a founding member of the Society of Industrial Designers in New York in 1944 and published numerous books and articles, including The Geography of American Antiques in 1927 and Designed for Living in 1936.
