Arthur P. Stern

Arthur P. Stern was born in 1925 in Budapest, Hungary. Before WWII he studied law at the University of Budapest and during the war, he and his family were imprisoned at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. After the war, he decided to study electrical engineering—a field in which he would eventually become a prominent figure--at both the University of Lausanne and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. In 1951, he immigrated to the United States and began working the General Electric's Electronics Laboratory.
