Carl G. Evers was born in Dortmund, Germany and studied at the Slade School in London and Sweden before immigrating to the United States in 1947. While Evers is mostly known as one of the most prolific marine artists of the 20th century, he began his career working for sixteen years as an automotive illustrator in Sweden. He continued to design automobiles after moving to the United States, creating concepts for Packard luxury vehicles that clearly demonstrated the influence of European companies such as Rolls Royce, Jaguar, and Mercedes Benz.
