M-1, Type B2 Clock, ca. 1928

This is a Clock. It was designed by Paul T. Frankl. It is dated ca. 1928 and we acquired it in 2015. Its medium is chromium-plated and enameled metal, molded bakelite, brushed-burnished silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

The slightly stepped form of this table clock is reminiscent of the skyscraper-inspired furniture also by Frankl, popular at the same time. When most clocks cost $5, this one cost $50, making it a luxury item.

This object was donated by George R. Kravis II. It is credited Gift of George R. Kravis II.
