Letter, Letter from Daren Pierce to Dorothy Liebes regarding his visit to Jantzen

This is a Letter.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Archives of American Art, New York, N.Y. as part of A Dark, A Light, A Bright: The Designs of Dorothy Liebes.

It is dated ca. 1947. Its medium is pen and ink and typewritten text on paper. It is a part of the Exhibitions department.

Daren Pierce served as Liebes’s envoy to Jantzen’s Portland, Oregon, mill while she was employed there as fashion fabric consultant and colorist. The shocking effect of "Liebes Look" colors—and the closeness of Pierce and Liebes’s relationship—is humorously revealed in his sketch of the reaction of Jantzen’s board to the proposal of Panama Pink.

It is credited Dorothy Liebes Papers, Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution.

Its dimensions are

H x W: 28 × 21.5 cm (11 in. × 8 7/16 in.)
