Reproduction, Arnold Bennett's Study, Chiltern Court, Baker Street, London
This is a Reproduction. It was photographed by Dell & Wainwright and featuring artwork by E. McKnight Kauffer, Marion Dorn Kauffer and Crossley & Brown. It is dated 1931. Its medium is photograph. It is a part of the Exhibitions department.
Kauffer and Dorn independently designed rugs that accented both the modern and historical homes of their friends. Kenneth Clark, director of London’s National Gallery, chose Dorn’s modern rugs to anchor the eclectic elements of the formal sitting room in his 18th-century town house. The writer Arnold Bennett commissioned Kauffer’s rugs for his study in a brand-new apartment building, Chiltern Court in Marylebone, where Kauffer and Dorn were also living.
