Tent

This is a Tent. It was designed by Keith Haring and made for Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Art Issue Editions as part of Willi Smith: Street Couture.

It is dated ca. 1985. Its medium is acrylic on canvas. It is a part of the Exhibitions department.


Haring was a leading figure in the East Village art scene of the 1970s and 80s. Best known for his graffiti drawings made in the subways and on the sidewalks of New York City, Haring’s work expanded to include commercial products, graphic design, set design, and clothing in the hopes of accessing a wide public.
