Bust of Ferdinand, Duke of Brunswick Bust

This is a Bust. It was manufactured by Fürstenberg Porcelain Manufactory and modeled by Desoches. It is dated ca. 1772 and we acquired it in 1984. Its medium is biscuit, hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Edward Pflueger and Mrs. Edward Pflueger.

Its dimensions are

H x W x D: 41 × 21 × 20.5 cm (16 1/8 × 8 1/4 × 8 1/16 in.)

It has the following markings

On bust: [1] "W", impressed (back of bust, laborer's mark) [2] a jumping horse, impressed [3] "NO. I .", incised (underside) [4] very faded text written in pencil on underside (?) Underside of socle: [1] "F", painted in underglaze blue (Fürstenberg Porcelain Manufactory mark)
