Drawing, Study 117

This is a Drawing. It was designed by John De Cesare. It is dated June 16, 1953 and we acquired it in 1982. Its medium is color pencil, graphite on cream wove paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

In this study for a wall decoration the artist has used "chart theme #1" from the General Foods Annual Report, depicted in four "keys," as the basis for his design. At this time John De Cesare was translating Bach's fugues into drawings, and in this drawing he attempted to create an interpretation of a fugue that also symbolized his General Foods' theme.

This object was donated by Estate of John De Cesare. It is credited Gift of the Estate of John De Cesare.
