This is a cup and saucer. It was designed by Christian Johannes van der Hoef and manufactured by Amphora Factory. It is dated ca. 1908 and we acquired it in 1994. Its medium is earthenware. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Its dimensions are

H x W (a: cup): 4.5 x 10.5 cm (1 3/4 x 4 1/8 in.) H x diam. (b: saucer): 1.5 x 13.2 cm (9/16 x 5 3/16 in.)

It has the following markings

On underside of cup: [1] " AMPHORA HOLLAND”, painted in black (factory mark). [2] "228-A-1", painted in black (probably inventory number). [3] the letter "P.", painted in black(painter's mark). On underside of saucer: [1] "HOLLAD ∙ AMPHORA ∙” in a circle, stamped in black (factory mark).
