Scent Bottle (England)

This is a Scent bottle. It is dated ca. 1750 and we acquired it in 1995. Its medium is agate, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Small decorative containers for holding perfume were carried by both men and women during the 18th century. These dainty vessels were fashioned from hard stones and displayed fine gold-work with flowing rococo ornamentation. (Design for Life, 1997-98).

This object was donated by The Panwy Foundation, Inc.. It is credited Gift of the Panwy Foundation, from the collection of Maria Wyman.
