Pickle Dish and Spear Pickle Dish

This is a pickle dish. It was manufactured by Wood & Hughes. It is dated 1871–1899 and we acquired it in 1993. Its medium is silver, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

It is credited Museum purchase from Decorative Arts Association Acquisition Fund in memory of Dona Guimaraes.

Its dimensions are

H x W x D (dish): 6 × 20.5 × 8.7 cm (2 3/8 × 8 1/16 × 3 7/16 in.) Length (spear): 9.2 cm (3 5/8 in.)

It has the following markings

On exterior of pickle dish, near handle: [1] “W[3 on its side]H”, impressed (manufacturer’s mark, 1871–99) [2] “STERLING”, impressed (standard mark) [3] “165”, impressed (possibly model number)

It is inscribed

Inscribed on underside of dish: [1] "AGB" in script, incised
