Drawing, Study for Pavillon et Tonnelle (Pavilion and Arbor)
In this horizontal rectangle drawing the light comes from the upper right. It is a three quarter view with the perspective receding towards the back right. There is a heavy line that boarders the drawing. In the foreground are many short vertical lines that illustrate grass, centered in the grass is a garden pavilion on a stone masonry base a couple feet high with a railing of several feet around the top of the base enclosing the pavilion with vertical pieces with oval cutouts between the top and bottom of the railing. Above that are vertical posts and spindles around the sides with a pergola type trellis across the top, growing up the sides and across the top are vines. There is a white walkway behind the pavilion the length of the drawing, a strip of grass with a row of bushes and behind that is a high stone masonry wall caped with perfectly shaped bricks or stone. In the background behind the wall is a silhouette of trees in almost solid black. There is an illegible word in graphite in the upper right corner of the paper.
