Bracelet (France)
This is a Bracelet. It is dated mid-19th century and we acquired it in 1946. Its medium is gold, enamel. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Gold and enemaled bracelets in the form of ribbons with bows or decorative knots were especialy popular during the middle of the nineteenth century. Paintings and costume prints from the period show well-dressed women wearing a number of bracelets on each arm. (Jewelry, 1998-90)
