Bracelet (France)

This is a Bracelet. It is dated 1850–75 and we acquired it in 1946. Its medium is gold, black enamel, garnets. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

The decorative wreaths, ribbons, and bows framing the stones on this gold bracelet recall neoclassical designs popular during the 1770's and 80's. The Empress Eugenies fascination with teh life and times of Queen Marie Antoinette helped fuel the taste for fashions from the previous century. (Jewelry 1989-90)

This object was donated by R. Keith Kane. It is credited Gift of the estate and in memory of Robert B. Noyes.

Its dimensions are

H x diam.: 3 x 6.8 cm (1 3/16 x 2 11/16 in.)
