This is a Sample book. It was company: Old Pacific Print Works. It is dated 1879 and we acquired it in 1945. Its medium is leather, paper, cotton and its technique is printed on plain weave and warp-face 5&1 diamond twill, weft-float pattern based on a plain weave structure. It is a part of the Textiles department.
These samples show different colorways for a printed textile probably used as a dress fabric. The book contains information about period design as well as color designations developed in the nineteenth century, such as "Chocolate," "Buff," "Stone," "Wine," and "Drab."
